What a shocker

What a shocker ... the death news of Heath Ledger. News has it that it was an "accidental" case of drug overdose (sleeping pills). I guess you can never know what combo of drugs can be deadly. What a shame. I thought he did an excellent job in "Brokeback Mountain." I really liked that movie. He was only 28 too... sad. Just sad.

Big Band Music

Recently, I'm really diggin' Big Band music ... special thanks to Michael Buble for bringing the sexy back to this genre of music. I especially like the 1950s swing music - they're all easy-listening/"happy feet" music. Love the sound of trumpet and sax...makes me just want to get up and dance (even though I'm not a dancer and dance like Elaine on Seinfield, I still do it!

Each morning as I lay in bed, I ask myself whether I can call in sick today? I don't want to go to work. Every day, I drag myself to work, dreading to face what awaits me in the office. I am just sick and tired of the non-sense and fire drills that we have in our office on a daily basis. I hate my job.

Ahh...the internet is back!

Friday's storm and strong winds disconnected my telephone line this past weekend. In fact, the wire snapped from the street pole and ran across my neighbor's front yard. No telephone, no DSL, no internet. It's such a shame how dependent I am on the internet... so here is the story. I do everything online now, including paying my bills. In fact, I even get online bills, instead of the normal paper ones. So when my phone line went out, I couldn't find the Repair phone number to call!! Normally, one can find all the phone #'s on the bill, but since my bill was online, and I couldn't get online... you get the picture! So after a while, I somehow managed to find the number and went through the myriad of "options" (Press 1 for English, 2 for Espanol... Press 2 for Residential, 3 for Commercial, et, etc). The mechanical voice kept on reminding me that I can report repair problems ONLINE. Duh! I would if I could! Finally arranged for repair service without ever have spoken to a live human. Everything was automated. The tech came out yesterday and reconnected the wires. So now the internet is fixed!! YEAH!

Back to work tomorrow!

NOOOOO!!!! Couldn't believe that my extended holiday is finally coming to an end today. I return back to work tomorrow after 13 days of continuous days offs (including weekends of course). Actually, it is the best deal of vacation days... because I only used up 5 days of PTO to get a total of 13. I took 12/21, 12/26, 12/27, 12/28 and 1/2 off. That's because my company got generous this year and gave us Christmas Eve and New Years Eve as paid holidays. I guess it makes up for the many extra hours employees have to put in throughout the year.

2007 has finally come to an end. I don't have any extraordinary events in 2007, which actually can be a good thing. You know how the saying goes -- no news means good news.

I wish everyone a healthy and safe 2008!

Home Made Bouquet

Although the wedding is not until May, my sister, BT and her fiance went to SF City Hall on 12/28 to get married. They want to take advantage of the Health Care Open enrollment period for 2008 -- hence, the rush to register before their actual wedding.

She asked me to make a bouquet for her, and here is my work! Believe it or not, I bought these flowers at my local Safeway and for a grand total of $20!! I used a dozen of cream-colored long stem roses, white Astromerias(5 stems) and Hypericum Berries (5 stems) as filler flowers. I also made a matching boutinere. Making a bouquet is really easier than you think. Here are the steps:

  1. Arrange the flowers to your liking and tie the flowers together with a rubber band

  2. Wrapped the stems with a white 1-1/2 inch satin ribbon

  3. Pin the ribbon ends with pearl-end pins.

  4. Cut the stems off to reach your desired length

  5. VOI-LA!! You're done!!

Could Not Ask for More

Don't you hate it when you have this song stuck in your head forever and you end up humming it every 2 seconds? Right now, that song for me is called "Could Not Ask for More," by Edwin McCain. Thank goodness it's a song that I like and not some jingle from an annoying commercial. This song is actually a very very sweet song... I've been to 2 weddings that the couples used it as their first dance.

Here are the lyrics...so it can get stuck in your head too.

Lying here with you
Listening to the rain
Smiling just to see the smile upon your face
These are the moments I thank God that I'm alive
These are the moments I'll remember all my life
I found all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more
Looking in your eyes Seeing all I need
Everything you are is everything to me
These are the moments I know heaven must exist
These are the moments I know all I need is this
I have all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more
Chorus
I could not ask for more than this time together
I could not ask for more than this time with you
Every prayer has been answered
Every dream I have's come true
And right here in this moment is right where I'm meant to be
Here with you here with me
These are the moments I thank God that I'm alive
These are the moments I'll remember all my life I've got all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more
Chorus
I could not ask for more than the love you give me
'Coz it's all I've waited for
And I could not ask for more I could not ask for more
